A Different Drug Problem

After I preached a message on “Biblical Discipline” someone emailed me the following letter called A Different Drug Problem. I thought this would be something you might enjoy.

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question, “Why didn’t we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?”

I replied, “I had a drug problem when I was young: I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or preacher, or if I didn’t put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.

I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity. I was drug out to pull weeks in mom’s garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad’s fields. I was drug to the homes of family, friends, and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood, and , if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the wood shed.

Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, or think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin: and, if today’s children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a better place.

God bless the parents who drugged us.”

A Call to Anguish

This past week was an incredible week at CFM. I played a video last Wednesday and Sunday. It is an incredible talk given by David Wilkerson. It is called “A Call to Anguish”. I want to ask you to watch it and ask the Lord to speak to you through this short video. I believe that the Lord wants to do even greater things at CFM. Let’s seek Him together for a heart that breaks for the lost.To see the video go to braveheartedgospel.com and scroll down to “A Call to Anguish” – Wilkerson.

Fresh Start...

Hello church family. Welcome to my new blog spot. I will be writing and posting every Thursday Morning so be watching.

Ps 86:15

15 But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.

In the past two months I have found that this scripture is so true. God has blessed my family in ways that can not be measured.

Karen, my wife, had a miraculous healing about 2 months ago and then last Friday God spared her life and the lives of 3 other people in a car wreck. I have always prayed for God’s protection on my family and He has always come through.

I want to challenge you to pray over your family and declare God’s protection over them. Do it now and believe. God is gracious, full of compassion, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.
